Injury Accident November 17, 2013

On November 17, 2013 at 12:58 am Deputies were dispatched to the area west of 40th Street and 660th Avenue in rural Crawford County in reference to an injury accident involving an ATV hitting a deer.

 

Deputies located Jason Reinier and Annabelle Davis suffering from severe injuries sustained from the accident.  The investigation revealed that Reinier and Davis were traveling on the ATV west on 660th Avenue from 40th Street and struck a deer that ran in front of them.  The ATV rolled several times and throwing Davis and Reinier from the ATV.

 

Witnesses at the scene contacted 911 after the accident. Reinier and Davis suffered serious injuries and were transported from the scene by Crawford County EMS.  The accident is still under investigation.

Injury Accident August 26, 2013

On 08-26-2013 at approximately 1151 hours, Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to approximately .4 miles north of Quincy Street on U69 Highway in reference to a one vehicle injury accident at that location.

 

42-year old Michelle Scott of Pittsburg, KS was driving a 2010 Kia passenger car north on U69 Highway when she entered the east ditch approximately .4 miles north of Quincy Street.  Scott traveled through the ditch for approximately 300 feet before striking trees and brush east of the roadway.  Scott suffered possible injuries in the accident.

 

Scott was transported to Via Christi Hospital by Crawford County E.M.S.  Scott could not recall if she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.  The accident is under investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.  Also assisting at the scene was the Pittsburg Police Department.

Injury Accident 08-16-2013

On August 16, 2013 at 12:21 a.m., Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle roll-over accident in the area of US 69 Hwy and 570 Avenue.  Deputies found Alejandro Vasquez, 40, of Pittsburg,  who was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla, in the driver’s seat suffering from a severe head injury.  Vasquez had to be extricated by Crawford County EMS and Baker Fire Dept personnel.  It was determined that Vasquez was travelling south on US 69 when he failed to negotiate a curve and went onto the west shoulder where he lost control.  The vehicle overturned and came to rest in the south bound lane of US 69.  Vasquez was transported by EMS to Via Christi Medical Center.

Witnesses told deputies that an unknown male passenger in Vasquez’s vehicle fled the scene on foot prior to deputy’s arrival.  A search was conducted but the subject was not located.

This incident is still under investigation.

 

Arrest Warrants Served

Details:

On August 09, 2013 Officers with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department executed two arrest warrants that were both issued from the District Court of Crawford County, Kansas.

Billy Joe Bridgewater age forty-eight was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies without incident. Bridgewater, 1081 E. 680 Ave.  Arcadia, KS  was arrested for one count of Rape with a child under the age of fourteen. The investigation stems from an on-going investigation that began in March, 2013. The alleged crime would have occurred in the year 2011 at Bridgewater’s residence.

Bridgewater is currently incarcerated at the Crawford County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

The second arrest warrant that was issued from the District Court of Crawford County, Kansas was for Richard W. Lindsey age forty-seven. Lindsey, who had been living in Neosho County, Kansas was arrested by the Neosho County Sheriff’s Department and then transferred to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department for one count of Rape with a child under the age of eighteen. The alleged crime would have occurred at Lindsey’s residence when he resided in rural Crawford County, Kansas between the years 2012 and 2013.

Lindsey is currently incarcerated at the Crawford County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

August 11, 2013 Assault

On 08/11/2013 at 0347 hours the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Tiffany Mays that a dark colored passenger car pulled up to her and her husband, Curtis L. Mays 18 years of age, as they were walking on US69 Hwy just north of 520th Ave. and started exchanging words with him.

 

Tiffany Mays said that four unknown males with dark complexions then got out of the car and began hitting and kicking Curtis Mays knocking him to the ground and continued assaulting him. The subjects then got back into the car and drove away southbound in a dark-colored sedan leaving Curtis Mays in the center of the south bound lane of US69 Hwy unconscious.

 

A Deputy arrived on scene at 0348 hours and rendered aid to Curtis Mays while waiting for EMS to arrive. Curtis Mays was flown from the scene by Eagle Med for his injuries. The extent of Mays’ injuries is unknown.  Pittsburg Police investigated a similar incident around 0256 hours.

The suspects and vehicle description matched Tiffany Mays’ description.

 

Also responding to the scene were Baker Fire Department and Pittsburg Police. Sheriff’s Deputies worked with Pittsburg Police throughout the day Sunday conducting interviews and following numerous leads.  This incident is still under investigation.
